Bijou Bliss work in progress for a taste test comparison - bison, possum, yak, blends.I crave color. Maybe you do too. Winter removes almost all hues from the landscape, but yarn can provide an artist’s palette for inspiration.

Bijou Bliss is a Cormo/yak blend yarn that is sourced and spun in the U.S. Working a cable, the yarn displays a nice stitch definition, and is soft and truly bliss so far to work up. The light worsted weight yarn shown here on the needles has a subtle color shift, almost variegated in strong sunlight. That adds interest as rows progress. Its too early to tell how this piece will block or drape.
The Bijou Bliss comes in a range of bold colors. One reminds me of this zinnia, a welcome burst of color.Since the work is part of a taste test to try out the bison, yak, yak blends and something called possum fur yarns, we’ll report on the experiences. After attending The Fiber Festival of New England, Stitches East and Vogue Knitting Live, many knitters we talked with were curious about how these exotic fibers perform. Yak yarn is available from several sources, including from Shokay Yarns, Bijou Basin Ranch, Mango Moon, Peace of Yarn, and Karabella.
