“Mathematical reasoning may be regarded rather schematically as the exercise of a combination of two facilities, which we may call intuition and ingenuity.”
– Alan Turing

The design above looks like a counted cross stitch (or knitting chart, brickwork pattern) graph come to life but is actually a video on YouTube called “A Search Algorithm Animation.”

Humans are called to create in many mediums, all with a common denominator – start with nothing. Go forward, discard what doesn’t work or isn’t pleasing. Unravel errors, mis-steps or choose to chuck the whole thing. Start again. Notice patterns, troubleshoot.

Image on the front page, details of safety wire necessary in aviation to prevent loosening that happens with vibration and time. Skill acquired at Chanute AFB, attending tech school in combat boots, field coat, buttoned-in shearling liner, gloves with wool inserts and watch cap with hood over head and more issued in winter. After first arriving and wearing low quarters and fatigues issued in basic training to sweep snow off fire escapes of nearby barracks when deep snow, biting winds, subzero double-digit temperatures made it impossible to march to school. Confined to quarters after that safety task.
